Nivio gives the user access to a super-fast remote computer that resides in our data-centres. All processing done on Nivio is lightning quick and programs that run on Nivio are actually running on a computer in our data centre, not on your local PC.
The output is streamed to the browser over the internet. The logic of this is now all a device needs is a browser & not complicated processors. So even running heavy programs on Nivio will not slow down your local PC.
A PC, like every piece of hardware carries the same vulnerability - the possibility of damage from human error, malicious attack, or just old age. A PC requires regular software and hardware upgrades to keep it running in an optimal way. Nivio guarantee's an always-on, instantly upgradeable service with all your data secure and backed-up accessible via a browser with applications on demand too. We do not expect our users to walk away from their cherished PC's straight away but we think that soon people will see the value of this secure desktop and use it.
The minimum recommended bandwidth for optimized screen changes and minimized latency is 128 Kbps. The more bandwidth a user has available the better the experience with applications such as video.
On logging onto Nivio, the user can view his/her desktop, just as it is on his/her home computer. Most users like to customize their desktop with wall paper & screen savers, use of Quick Launch or Icons over the screen, this ability is disabled at the moment but soon users will be able to do this.
Nivio is run on a scalable architecture which means that as soon as the architecture becomes over 60% utilized processes initiate additional resources.
Users can upload their data to Nivio via nivioSync that is simple to use, simply select the folders that you want to upload & Nivio does this in the background. Please see nivioSync below.
The nivioCentre functionality is very similar to that of the control panel in the start menu on windows XP. The nivioCentre allows a user to manage storage & manage applications from their Nivio experience.
Changes made through the NivoCentre will take effect immediately. Typically if you encounter problems simply log off & log back in again & the changes will take effect.
The user can request a trial of software. The software icon will appear on the desktop for 30 days. After this period the user gets the options to continue with the service. If so the billing is altered to reflect the change. After a user has had a trial for 30 days they are not permitted to have another trial.
nivioLive is an application that allows users to share the contents of their Nivio account with other Nivio users plus non-nivio users. The application allows users to set up buddy lists where content is shown either to individuals or it can be shred publically.

The standard contract term is 30 days. If the service is no longer required a user needs to go onto the Nivio Control Panel & terminate their account prior to the end of each 30 day period.
Nivio has a dedicated support infrastructure based in India which offers email based support.

Ultimately we aim to have a 24x7x365 support structure but this will only be possible once we have enough customers to warrant the cost. (We are a start up after all) But given that we are simply replicating the desktop we don't expect that may support calls. Currently a Nivio technician will answer all emails within 24Hours.

Nivio has online support resources to assist you in registering and understanding the working and features of Nivio. However, Nivio has been designed to act, look and feel exactly the same as a normal Windows desktop environment. Once users are comfortable with how to connect to the system, the rest is just like using a normal PC.
The Nivio application architectures operate out of data-centres which provide the best possible levels of uptime for web services. Access to these data centres is restricted to verified staff, and with access keys.
Nivio has a multi-layered protection system using different providers to ensure that our users are protected from external threats to your desktop like Viruses, Spam and Spy-ware.
Your data is secure at our data centre behind multiple firewalls. The data transfer is secured using username & password authentication. Users can help by choosing a long alpha-numeric password and changing it regularly. If accessing Nivio from a public PC, when you log out there is no trace of your work left on the local machine.
Penetration testing is conducted and outsourced to a specialist company who perform tests on a rolling and random basis, in order to create realistic attack scenarios.
The End user data is always available rather than backed up, since backup implies that there are times when customer data is old, therefore the backing up of data is an ongoing task to ensure Zero customer data loss.
We have a network operations centre based out of Delhi manned 24x7x365, which monitors our global network, by deploying nodes within the data centres themselves, and also monitoring externally via third party partners.
Nivio deploys robots which login at random time during the day, and provide a stream of statistical data to, to ensure that the customer experiences stays within 5% standard deviation of the optimal customer experience measure. The Nivio forums are constantly monitored to ensure that there are no issues being highlighted.
Every possible step has been taken in the design of the Nivio architecture to limit the effect emergency maintenance on users. As such, part of the system can be repaired whilst a live service continues on the remaining architecture. The Nivio architecture is scaled horizontally which allows the Nivio Engineers to pull out servers from any segment without causing service interruptions.
When the system reaches a capacity utilization of 60% an alert is triggered which initiates an automated upgrade process. The target upgrade time is to have all steps completed prior to capacity reaching 70%.
